Determination of Natural Radioactivity in Soil Samples around Gold Mining Area in Khamkeut District, Bolikhamxay Province,Laos Using Gamma Ray Spectrometer with NaI (Tl) Detector

This paper presented the method of determining the radioactivity of 40K, 226Ra and 232Th in soil samples by gamma-ray spectrometer using NaI (Tl) scintillation detector. The radioactivity of each isotope is calculated based on the net count rate in the energy window characteristic for the 40K, 226Ra and 232Th radioisotopes respectively. We have determined activity concentrations of the natural radionuclides 226Ra,232Th and 40K in 15 soil samples collected around gold mines of Khamkeut district, Bolikhamxay Province, Laos. The average activity concentrations of the natural radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th and 40K are 46.58 ± 7.36 , 71.19 ± 5.42 and 574.62 ± 25.02 Bq.kg-1, respectively. The average activity concentrations of 226Ra and 232Th in this work are higher than those of Bolikhamxay Province, Laos and the world average values. The estimated average outdoor annual effective dose (E) and radium equivalent actitvity (Raeq) are 0.10 ± 0.004 mSv.yr-1 and 192.64 ± 16.12 Bq.kg-1, respectively.

Nguyễn, Thị Thanh Bình Đặng, Ngọc Anh Trần, Mai Anh Nguyễn, Thanh Hải Trong nghiên cứu này chúng tôi đã xây dựng được quy trình định lượng flurbiprofen trong viên nén bao phim 100 mg bằng phương pháp sắc ký lỏng hiệu năng cao ghép đầu dò diode-array theo hướng dẫn của Cơ quan quản lý thuốc châu Âu và Hội nghị quốc tế về hài hoà hoá các yêu cầu kỹ thuật để đăng ký dược phẩm sử dụng trên người. Pha tĩnh được sử dụng là cột silica gel pha đảo C8 (5 μm, 120 Å, 4,6×150 mm), pha động là hỗn hợp acetonitril : nước : acid acetic băng với tỷ lệ 65 : 32,5 : 2,5, tốc độ dòng 1 ml/phút. Mẫu được tiêm với thể tích 10 µl, thời gian sắc ký 8 phút, bước sóng phát hiện 247 nm. Thời gian lưu của flurbiprofen là 3,73 phút. Kết quả thực nghiệm cho thấy trong khoảng nồng độ từ 2 - 20 μg/ml, có sự tương quan tuyến tính chặt chẽ giữa diện tích pic y (mAU.min) và nồng độ dung dịch x (μg/ml) theo phương trình y = 0,680x với hệ số xác định R2 = 0,9993. BTEX pollution caused by motorcycles in the megacity of HoChiMinh

Tran, Thi Ngoc Lan Pham, Anh Minh Monitoring of benzene, toluene and xylenes (BTEX) was conducted along with traffic counts at 17 roadside sites in urban areas of HoChiMinh. Toluene was the most abundant substance, followed byp,m-xylenes, benzene,o-xylene and ethylbenzene. The maximum observed hour-average benzene concentration was 254μg/m3 . Motorcycles contributed to 91% of the traffic fleet. High correlations among BTEX species, between BTEX concentrations and the volume of on-road motorcycles, and between inter-species ratios in air and in gasoline indicate the motorcycle-exhaust origin of BTEX species. Cultural Differences: A Barrier to Native English Teachers in English as a Foreign Language Contexts

These can be due to different social positions of teachers and students in the two societies, to differences in expected teacher/student and student/student interaction, or to differences in the relevance of the curricula of the two societies (Hofstede). Therefore, it has been assumed that a teacher must be aware of socio-cultural differences to operate effectively in the classroom. This paper begins with cultural aspects of individualist and collectivist countries and influences of collectivist cultures in EFL classrooms. It also shows a number of cultural explanations of communication avoidance in EFL classrooms, especially inChina,JapanandVietnam.
